Travel Tips

  • Big Bear is an easy drive from either Los Angeles or San Diego. The easiest way to come up, with the least amount of curves or traffic, is in Highway 38. In the summer, you will find this to be a gorgeous route. It winds past San Gorgonio Mountain, up to Onxy Summit, with incredilbe views, and into the Big Bear Valley.

Be sure to check the road conditions in the winter time. Although we are located in Southern Clifornia, we experience winter storms. Use our Roads page to check chain requirements.

  • We are located at high altitude. If you plan on enjoying the outdoors, remember to bring plenty of sunscreen and to pace yourself.
  • Rember to bring warm weather clothing in the winter. Our average winter temperatures are 40 degrees in the daytime, slipping down into the 20's or the teens at night.
